Here is the recipe for the creamy, pudding-style dessert shown in the image — a very popular Turkish-style milk dessert (Süt Tatlısı), also similar to Brazilian “manjar” or a firm vanilla milk pudding.
It’s super easy, no oven, few ingredients, and becomes beautifully smooth, creamy, and sliceable.
⭐ Creamy Milk Slice Dessert (No-Bake)
🥛 Ingredients
1 liter milk
1 cup sugar (200 g)
1 cup cornstarch (120 g)
1 packet vanilla (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
2 tbsp butter
Optional topping: cinnamon or cocoa powder (as in the photo)
👩🍳 Preparation
- In a pot, add:
milk
sugar
cornstarch
vanilla
- Mix very well while cold until the cornstarch dissolves.
- Place the pot on medium heat and cook while stirring constantly.
- When it thickens and becomes creamy like custard, cook for 1–2 more minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add butter. Stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a glass dish.
- Let it cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for 3–4 hours (or overnight) until firm.
- Sprinkle cinnamon or cocoa on top — just like in the photo.
- Cut into slices or scoop with a spoon and serve!
✨ Tips
For a richer flavor, add ½ cup condensed milk.
For a firmer cut: add an extra 1–2 tbsp cornstarch.
For a lighter version: replace part of the milk with coconut milk.
